About Aging
Aging is an inevitable process. It is the process of becoming older or more mature in all living things. In the case of human beings, aging is an accumulation of changes in our physical, psychological and social over a period of time. You may ask what age is considered old. In western world, old age is widely considered to begin at the age of 65. However, how fast we age actually varies from one individual to another. Aging is very much depending upon our genes, environmental effects and lifestyles. But I would have to say you probably age in one way or another if you contract one or more of the following.
You have noticed changes in your body such as wrinkles, loss of muscle tone, hair loss or hair graying. Of course your aging skin is not as smooth and tender as when you are in your tens or twenties. Brown spots on the skin begin to appear.
You started to exhibit deterioration in memory and mental ability. Your memory is not as good as before and you tend to forget well too easily what had been done just a couple of days before.
You have noticed steady decline of organ function and body systems. Your vision and hearing have become less sensitive and sharp. You are more vulnerable to illness than ever before. After an illness, it may also take longer to return to your optimum health. Medications would have more side effects on you.
You have become less outgoing and have attended fewer parties compared to few years back. Your excuse is to have some rest and seems to be lack of energy all the time.
You reject techie trends. Do you learn to Twitter or Skype? Do you send emails, google online or even date online? Basically you have also lost interest on fashion and chose to ignore current events happening around you.
You have higher pulse beat per minute. Most people have pulse beat rates between 60 and 100 per minute when resting, the lower the healthier. Higher pulse rate indicates your heart has to work harder and is a symptom of aging and health declining.
You snore regularly at night sleep. Snoring can cause high blood pressure, memory lost, weight gain and depression. These are among some of the aging symptoms. A good sleep is essential to prevent aging faster.
You need less and less sleep. Your average daily sleep time drops significantly from 8 hours down to 6 or 7 hours. Besides, your sleep also becomes shallower, and tends to be more easily awakened in the night. You may suffer from insomnia too.
You have a relatively fat belly, i.e. above 35 inches for women and above 40 inches for men. According to research, those who are too round in the middle are 20 percent more likely to die sooner (in this case aging faster too) than others.
You suffer from depression. You may not be as cheerful as you wish you were. You feel like you are no longer admirable, no longer smart and no longer wanted. You start to feel life is full of pain and sorrow.
And most importantly is when you feel old yourself!
